Who can homeschool?

Homeschooling is something that anyone can do with the right support. I’ll be honest, I didn’t always feel that way. I was a mom with brick and mortar school teaching experience and a Master’s degree and I still felt overwhelmed. That’s a completely normal feeling. This is your precious child after all. What if the decisions you make aren’t perfect?

Let’s think about that for a second. First, none of the decisions we make as parents are ever absolutely perfect. We are all doing the best we can with the information we have at the time. If you have sought this page out or others like it, clearly you are thinking about your child’s future and how best to serve them.

Second, handing your child off to a school is in some ways simpler. You might think, “The school will do what’s best for my child and they have the knowledge and expertise to do that.” Having worked in school environments in several states, I can safely say that is somewhat true. Unfortunately, teachers are overworked and underpaid. Sometimes the teacher in a given classroom is under-qualified to be there. I wanted to be the best teacher I could be for my students, but I simply didn’t have enough time and resources to do that. Often that leads to students falling through the cracks. Ultimately, the onus of responsibility still falls on the parent(s) to make sure their child(ren) are learning and growing. With homeschooling, you just get a clearer front row seat.

You CAN do this!
